This is my first year at Westview. Previously, I taught fourth grade and fifth grades for many years in Oceanside, California. In fact, I recently moved to Overland Park from Oceanside -- what a change!
People ask me "why in the world did you do this?" There are many reasons. First, I grew up in Manhattan, so I am a Kansas girl! My family lives in this area! And my wonderful husband was willing to take me home! So here we are.
I have two sons - Riley is 21 and Tyler is 19. They both elected to stay in California, where they attend college.
I have a sweet Scottish terrier named Abby. I have a naughty Manx cat (no tail) named Tux.
My favorite color is blue. My favorite food is pizza. My favorite music is Rock and Roll - I love AC/DC, Guns N Roses, the Stones ... you get the picture.
I collect Mooses! I love to go to auctions and I collect antiques. My husband is an Auctioneer,and we actually met at an auction.
I spent several years in the fashion business traveling the world before I had kids. Then I went back and got my teaching credential. I also have specialized credentials in ELL education and Gifted and Talented education. I love teaching -- there is nothing else in the world I would rather do. Each student is precious, and I will do everything I can to ensure that their fourth grade year is memorable and successful.
